The Caboose Lodge has recently under gone some exciting changes including the purchase of the lodge by Dave & Cheryl Burgess. Dave and Cheryl have moved from Whangarei to take a hands on approach and have brought with them years of experience within the hospitality industry.
Themed around the Colonial African Era, the Caboose Lodge is one of New Zealands most unique venues, the largest solid log structure and New Zealands only themed lodge.

The Caboose Lodge is centrally located (on the lake front of Taupo), easy to find and just a short stroll from the heart of the Lake Taupo business centre. Lake Taupo is a fantastic choice, summer or winter, for those wanting to experience what our region has to offer.
Taupo is centrally located in the North Island of New Zealand, approximately 3 hours south of Auckland or 4 hours north of Wellington. The Caboose is situated on State Highway 1, just one block south of the fire station.
Accommodation
The Caboose Lodge has 50 rooms, rich in Africa décor replicating the luxurious colonial Africa era. Our rooms comprise of Sleepers and Suites, all offering everything you need to make your stay a comfortable & enjoyable one.

These rooms are compact, elegant and cosy with a double bed and shower ensuite.

Unique rooms that are great for work and rest. All rooms have bath or shower ensuites.

THE CABOOSE RESTAURANT
The Caboose Restaurant is situated overlooking the magnificent Lake Taupo and the volcanic mountains beyond. Our award winning chefs offer a wide range of culinary experiences. The restaurant is open for breakfast, dinner and lunch by arrangements.
THE CABOOSE BAR
The Caboose Bar is a great place to relax and unwind with your favorite drink. In the colder months why not enjoy sitting by the large cosy open fire with a hot chocolate and toast your own marshmallows.
Recreational Facilities
Lake Taupo is centrally located in the north Island of New Zealand.
Lake Taupo is New Zealand's largest lake, making it a perfect attraction for water activities such as sailing, swimming, parasailing and fishing for trophy rainbow trout.
For you daredevils wanting to experience some adrenaline you can jump from 15000ft out of a plane, feel the speed with Huka Jet or take the plunge with Taupo Bungy.
Taupo is also just over a one hour drive to Mount Ruapehu and ski fields.
Lake Taupo is a fantastic choice, summer or winter, for those wanting to experience what our region has to offer.
